Again, I stand shocked by the destructiveness of sin because a close friend of mine has committed adultery. The result of which has torn two families apart and tarnished the the name of Christ. We are never alone in our sin... its affects are far reaching. The shock waves cause a tsunami like effect in the lives of so many people. Even people that are far removed from the actual situation.
Like a tsunami, sin always leaves death and destruction in its wake . It ruins lives and tears families apart. For some reason, Christians think they can play with sin and control it. Time and time again, what begins as a apparently harmless and controllable thing ends by causing destruction, chaos, and death, especially to the relationships effected by the sinful behaviors.
As Christians we must see sin for what it is... EVIL! It is never harmless or controllable, no matter how benign or manageable it may seem at first. Sin left unchecked will bring death and destruction to your life.
Romans 6:23 (ESV)
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
